Which Cardio Machines Should You Use?
While there are A LOT of different cardio machines that you can use with Visual Impact Cardio, there are some that I believe are better than others. First of all, if you have your own favorites, by all means, feel free to try them in place of any of the ones that I prefer. My thoughts are that you will find that some work better for different types of workouts.
For example, the treadmill is probably the most thought of machine but when it comes to lactate threshold intervals, the stationary bike is actually easier to make work. The main reason for this is primarily due to the fact that you need to be able to adjust speed and intensity throughout the workout.
Here is a list of the most common cardio machines and what they are most-likely best used for:
- Treadmill – steady state / can be used for intervals
- Stationary Bike – steady state / intervals
- Elliptical – steady state
- Rowing machine – steady state / intervals
- Stairmasters – steady state / intervals
- Stepmills – steady state / intervals

As you can see, many of the machines can be used interchangeably. Honestly, I would stick with the stationary bike or treadmill for intervals (I personally used the bike) and either the treadmill or elliptical for steady state (I personally used the elliptical).
Of course, the most important thing is that you do the workout; not that you do the workout with a certain machine. Do a little experimenting if you want and find which cardio machine works best for you!
